Bran Castle (German: Törzburg; Hungarian: Törcsvár) is located in the central part of Romania, on the border between Transylvania and Wallachia regions, about 30 km south from the city of Brasov, in the village of Bran. Rasnov Castle was built on the top of the hill in the 13th century. The original function of the fortress was to ensure protection against both Turkish and Tartar invasions and the trespasses of the feudal noblemen.
